Georgia Southern Kicks Off 2025 Season in 86 Days

Georgia Southern football is less than three months away! The Eagles will start the 2025 season on a west coast swing when they play Fresno State on August 30th before playing USC in Week 2. It has been announced that the Fresno State game will kick off at 9:30 PST (6:30 EST) and be nationally televised on FoxSports 1.

The Bulldogs are coming off 6-7 (4-3 MWC) season in 2024. They averaged 26.08 points per game on offense while giving up 24.85 per game as a defense. Like Georgia Southern, Fresno State relies on their passing game quite a bit as seen by 71% of their offensive yards being gained through the air in 2024.

In recent years, the secondary for the Eagles has struggled so it will be interesting to see how Defensive Coordinator Brandon Bailey has filled voids on that side of the ball and how the defensive staff game plans to slow down the Bulldogs passing game. It seems there has been a conscious effort to get taller defensive backs in the past two recruiting cycles and after adding ten defensive players from the transfer portal, expect this unit to be much improved going into 2025.

Week one games oftentimes set the tone for your season and Fresno State will be a tough matchup for Georgia Southern right out of the gate. August 30, 2025 cannot get here fast enough!
